Amazon Kindle Reader Review: Should you buy a Kindle Reader?

There are a number of reasons that Amazon’s Kindle reader is often the number one choice for consumers of ebook readers. In this Kindle reader review, we look at why you would purchase a Kindle reader as opposed to a Sony ereader, a Nook or even an iPad.

There are a lot of choices out there and deciding which one suits your needs is one of the hardest decisions for you to make. The Kindle reader review looks at the advantages and disadvantages of a Kindle Reader.

Advantages to the Kindle Reader:

- designed to provide an exceptional reading experience.
- revolutionary screen that gives an ink on paper reading experience without the glare of a computer screen.
- very easy on the fingertips.
- great for left and right handed people.
- never becomes hot.
- can be read comfortably at any angle for long periods of time.
- content arrives immediately and automatically wherever you are.
- samples can be read and downloaded before purchasing the full ebook.

Disadvantages for the Kindle Reader:

- not very elegant casing.
- pricing seems high for something that is just an ereader for Amazon books.
- lacks a true Web browser.
- black and white is fine for books but for periodicals and magazines you can miss out on any colour or image content.

How to decide whether Kindle is for you? Kindle Reader Review

This Kindle Reader review looks at the difference between a tablet or an ereader.

Do you want to do more than just read ebooks on your ereader?
Would you like to surf the net or send and receive emails?
Would you like to use your reader for social media such as checking into Facebook or sending tweets?

The big question when looking at a Kindle reader review is to decide on the functionality you are wanting in your device.

If you are simply wanting an easy way to read books and carry multiple books without the weight and space of paper books, then a dedicated ereader is probably what you need.

However, if the idea of watching Youtube videos, skyping the family and checking your emails grabs you, then a tablet is definitely for you.

Tablets

The new Kindle Reader, Kindle Fire is not just an ereader, it does just about everything an iPad does (and if you like the Amazon cloud based tools then you will find that it is perfect for you) and the price is a lot lower.

Shop Amazon’s New Kindle Fire

The Samsung Galaxy tablet has been very popular and runs in a similar fashion to the iPad. It has a full colour screen, wifi, all computer capabilities and ereader ability.

Of course, the iPad probably has the easiest screen to use but it is constantly being upgraded and for the slight difference in functionality of the touch screen, saving a bit of money by purchasing a Samsung Galaxy tablet or a Sony tablet can give you a similar experience for a much smaller price tag.

Ipad

Does your favourite US store not ship the product you want to your country? Try Goopping! who will setup a US mailing address and then forward the product to you. Check it out, it makes the online shopping world in US available to all International customers.

Why would you buy a Kindle reader from Amazon if you live in Australia?

There are some incredible prices for iPads, tablets and ereaders at Amazon and with the exchange rates looking good for Australians at the moment, now is the time to check out these deals and the combined shipping power of Goopping.

More Ipads

Amazon has some incredible deals but until recently a lot of these deals, in particular, electronic deals, were just not available for Australians. How often have you seen those offers that even give free US postage? Now with Goopping, you can get Amazon to send the product to your Goopping US mailing address and then Goopping will send the product on to you.

For example, I did a search for an iPad on Amazon and found an iPad I wanted to buy but they would only ship in the US. So I went to Goopping and did a shipping query to find out the price to have it shipped from the US and found it was only $31.05 (see screen shot below) and it looks like a very fast service too!

Don’t forget that if you don’t have your Kindle reader with you, you can always access your ebooks in the cloud with your Amazon cloud reader. It is like having your Kindle reader in your web browser or smartphone.

Cheapest Android Tablet

Looking for the Cheapest Android Tablet?

I’ve spent a lot of time lately checking out the forums and online stores for the cheapest android tablet available.

I bought my 11 year old son what I thought at the time was the cheapest android tablet and it certainly seemed a good deal. The trouble was that the reviews were incredibly mixed. But I figured, for $100 I couldn’t really go wrong. It certainly fitted the bill for being the cheapest android tablet around at the time. Compared to an ipad<img src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=homebizwithte-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="cheapest android tablet"style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /> it was a bargain and does plenty for an 11 year old’s needs.

In fact, it’s perfect for most adults too!

It is a Pendo and they were originally sold by Dodo as part of a deal with broadband. I got mine as a second from a place in Annandale. It had a very tiny scratch on the surface. However, it came with its box (no instructions) and all the bits and pieces.

I got the thing home and charged it but then didn’t open it again for a month – until my son’s birthday. Then I found out why it was one of the cheapest Android tablet options around.

Uh, Oh, Cheapest Android Tablet Time!

Well, surprise, surprise on the birthday morning, he got up and opened it only to find that it had gone flat and the charger wasn’t working any more. I didn’t know if the cheapest android tablet was also the worst android tablet!

But we rang the company in Annandale and they told us to bring their cheapest Android tablet back with the charger. Luckily, it turned out to be just the charger and after being given a new one, the Pendo worked like a charm.

It has taken my son a bit of time to get used to it. It isn’t as fast as a computer and doesn’t support Flash so some of his games aren’t available.

But the thing he loves about it are the music, Youtube videos and the games like Fruit and Angry Birds. So, all in all, it’s been a success.

Move on a few months and Father’s Day comes along. We decided to get my dad an ereader but after the experience with my son’s tablet, I thought it made a lot more sense to get a tablet with ereader capability.

Now We Love Our Cheapest Android Tablet

I did a big search and have ended up getting another one of the cheapest android tablet<img src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=homebizwithte-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="cheapest android tablet"style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /> options around! It is an Eee tablet with Android 2.2 OS 8″.

I also bought a faux leather case with keyboard to fit it into. This one also cost $100 but after postage and the case it came to $145 – not bad for something that will do email, search the internet, allow you to watch video, store all photos and use as an ereader. This only touches the bare minimum of what a tablet can do.

If you’re thinking of buying a Tablet PC<img src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=homebizwithte-20&l=ur2&o=1" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="cheapest android tablet"style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /> then one of the cheapest android tablet options around might well do the trick for you too.

If you are looking for a basic unit that is for fun and travelling and is compact but not so expensive that you will be devastated if it gets lost or breaks, then the cheapest android tablet is for you!

I suspect I’ve been on the receiving end of an “Ouffer offer scam” -

This Ouffer offer scam was through one of the companies promoted on their Deal a Day site. I tried to do a search for “Ouffer offer scam” & it does seem I’m not the only one who has had this happen. It seems that others have paid for a deal and then either didn’t receive anything or what they did get was something way less than advertised.

All Star Carpet Cleaning Web page image

A couple of weeks ago, Ouffer sent me an email with a steam carpet cleaning offer. I jumped at it since that weekend a friend had moved out leaving a fairly well stained carpet in the room.

The Ouffer Offer Scam Story

One day after paying and ordering the gig I received a call from “All Star Carpet Cleaning”
(website- http://www.allstarcarpet.com.au)
to book my steam clean on Saturday 10/09/2011 at 12.30pm. I run my own business from home so I had to close the business for the day and spent many hours tidying up and decluttering the house so the steam cleaners could actually find the carpet – only to find they didn’t show up!

The man on the phone sounded professional; just like the Nigerian scammers, he was very convincing and it never occurred to me that it was an “Ouffer offer scam“.

I received an email with the confirmation of my payment etc and I thought I was good to go. In fact, it was all so convincing, that I still thought they were not answering their phone as they were too busy because it was such a good deal. Hmmm, methinks too good a deal to be true!

I have to admit that I did get a bit worried that it might be an “Ouffer offer scam” when I didn’t receive a confirmation call the day before. I just (stupidly) assumed that they were busy and would still turn up since I did have the receipt etc.

I got up on Saturday at 6am to finish clearing the place up and to have time to take my son to his basketball game. I cancelled my business for the day and arranged for my son to be minded at a friend’s place. This all took up time that I didn’t have to spare.

12.30pm on Saturday came around but no All Star Carpet Cleaning company.

I started to suspect an Ouffer offer scam.

Guess what?! Surprise surprise… looks like an Ouffer offer scam… the company’s phones are now unavailable or they ring out after asking for a voicemail message to be left. This is both their 1300 488 829 number as well as their mobile that is listed by Ouffer and on their company website.

Ouffer All Star Carpet Cleaning Offer

Of course, I’m yet to have either my emails or my phone calls and voice mails replied to by either company. This is when I really thought I had been the unhappy victim of an Ouffer offer scam by All Star Carpet Cleaning.

Ouffer don’t appear very interested in replying quickly and have sent auto replies back to email queries that state that they are currently experiencing a high number of calls and will get back to me. I am yet to receive anything but an auto response.

This makes it even more likely that there was an Ouffer offer scam by All Star Carpet Cleaning, because I suspect that Ouffer are busy dealing with all the calls from other people, like me, who didn’t receive the steam clean they paid and prepared for.

Meanwhile, my kitchen is overflowing with furniture and items that were on the carpet last week. I don’t know whether to waste more time on this Ouffer offer scam or to just wait and see if All Star Carpet Cleaning will eventually honour their contract (that has been paid for!).

Unfortunately, the longer this goes on, the more I suspect that I have definitely been the unfortunate recipient of an Ouffer offer scam.

If you have also been scammed by one of these Deal of the Day sites, leave a comment below and let us know what happened to you.

It really isn’t good enough to have people be so put out by this sort of fiasco!

Ouffer offer scam? I think so…

All Star Carpet Cleaning… shame on you. Ouffer offer scams are not the way to make your money.
I sure won’t be buying from Ouffer again, not until I get my money back or my carpets cleaned.
Ouffer… if you don’t want people running away from you in droves, you need to do something about this Ouffer offer scam by All Star Carpet and make sure it doesn’t happen again!

Siliconera are about to release “Dead or Alive Dimensions”, one of the new Nintendo 3DS games. While there are still not a lot of Nintendo 3DS games available at launch, there are some very exciting innovations and plenty to keep you occupied while other titles are being released.

It has been widely reported that Team Ninja discussed some of the features of one of the new Nintendo 3DS games, “Dead or Alive Dimensions”. The team have included an incredibly clever and useful innovation by making use of the bottom screen to display fighting combo specs. Unlike Super Street Fighter 4, with it’s customisable attack moves, “Dead or Alive Dimensions” displays a full list of attack and fighting combinations. Instead of having to rely on your memory for these combinations, you can easily use them from the bottom screen.

Head of Team Ninja, Yosuke Hayashi said about this new feature, “I remember playing the sparring mode for countless hours because I needed to memorize my favourite characters’ techniques…Even so, a week later I would forget a few of those combos and would have to go through them again. Taking these experiences into consideration, the team decided to give players a chance to enjoy the beauty of 3D fighting games without having to work out too much to get to this level.”

“While thinking about this feature, we came to a sudden realization that the bottom screen of the 3DS is sitting there doing nothing, so we decided that displaying the tech list on the touchscreen is the only way to go!” Hayashi revealed. “Players will be able to touch on the screen to execute a tech right there and then. Hayashi was questioned about the new Nintendo 3DS gyrscopic sensors and the rumoured “jiggly” effect that is apparently felt when playing. Hayashi’s cryptic reply? “We are taking full advantage of 3DS functions. That is all I can say at this moment!”.

As an addition to the stable of Nintendo 3DS games, “Dead or Alive Dimensions” will be very popular. Dead or Alive Dimensions has a tag fighting feature that allows players to swap back and forth for combo attacks and you can even attack simultaneously (if you get the timing right!). Within the tag feature you can use special throws that are unique to particular pairs of characters. Unusually for the game fighting genre, Dead or Alive Dimensions, allows for up to four players in the tag mode.
